Edgewater Gold Radio - a brief History

Edgewater Gold Radio has been on the internet for over 16 years but didn't begin as an internet radio station. In 2002, I was on our condo board in Edgewater, New Jersey. We were at a late meeting one night to decide on a major renovation issue. One of the members said to me "being a radio guy, you should start a radio station for our Condo community." I thought he was joking but he wasn't. I was a radio geek so to speak so I took the idea and ran with it. I researched to see if there was any way I could put a small radio station on the air without a license. I then found out about "part 15" broadcasting. This allows AM broadcasting at one tenth of a watt using a certified transmitter. I then purchased a Hammilton Rangemaster 1000 and managed to get a tiny AM station on the air broadcasting about 1/2 mile. At the time, the station began as "the Cove" but was later changed to Edgewater Radio then to Edgewater Gold Radio. I realized that the audience reach was very small. Internet radio was the answer but it was still in it's infancy. I worked at an audio production company and asked a young guy who was very good with computers how could I start an internet station. The first thing he said to me was "Live 365, a hosting service that was free at the time. Within about one month, I had Edgewater Radio up and running ! We managed to grow and survive through many trials and tribulations include the shutdown of Live 365 and the very frustrating royalty situation which continually plagues us today! After moving to the very troubled and frustrating Radionomy platform and later to another hosting platform riddled with problems, we are finally back at the new Live 365!

Edgewater Gold Radio plays the greatest variety of oldies from the 50s 60s 70s 80s plus we add in great pop standards. You may download the free Edgewater Gold Radio app or listen on many other apps such as Tunein, Nobex, Live 365, my Tuner etc. Our website contains content relevant to the residents of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware but you may read our many blog posts that cover all areas of interest and listen online.
