David Cassidy Reveals That He Never Had Dementia

The following article was published by RTT News.

In the documentary David Cassidy: The Last Session, which is set to be aired by A&E on June 11, the former Partridge Family star is quoted as saying he lied to his friends and family that he had stopped drinking.

On Wednesday, A&E shared a preview from the documentary, a taped phone conversation between Cassidy and a producer in the days after the singer was diagnosed with a "liver disease."

In the conversation with A&E producer Saralena Weinfield, Cassidy said "I have a liver disease. There is no sign of me having dementia at this stage of my life. It was complete alcohol poisoning."

He then reportedly confessed, "The fact is that I lied about my drinking. I did this to myself to cover up the sadness and the emptiness."

Earlier, Cassidy had said he was suffering from dementia after he forgot the lyrics to some his songs while performing on stage. Cassidy died of organ failure in November 2017 at age 67.
