Getting Internet Radio Exposure

March 13, 2019

I read many posts where new internet radio  programmers wonder why their stations have 1 or 2 listeners or in some cases, none. Internet radio unlike local terrestrial radio is a tiny spec in a sea of thousands and thousands of stations and also many music services such as Spotify or Pandora.

Growing an audience is a very slow process. First you must get your site listed in as many internet directories as possible. As you go through this process, you may realize that not all sites will accept your station but keep plugging on.

Make sure you provide the streaming URL for your station. The URL that automatically starts your stream not the one that brings up a player.  Also provide an accurate description of the station such as format and other details that you want the audience to know.

Adding your station to various directories is an ongoing process. If you notice a post of advertisement for a new directory, check it out and see if you can add your station. Many times you have to scroll to the bottom of the page and find a link that says "add station."

Here's a link that can get you started.  It's called Radio Solution
