Leaving Neverland, a documentary about sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson, has received five nominations for the 2019 Emmy awards.
The doc was nominated in the following categories: outstanding directing for a documentary/nonfiction program; outstanding documentary or nonfiction special; outstanding picture editing for a nonfiction program; outstanding sound editing for a nonfiction program; and outstanding sound mixing for a nonfiction program.
Jackson's estate is fighting a legal battle with HBO over the documentary.
Leaving Neverland, directed by Dan Reed, follows two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who allege that they were sexually abused by Jackson when they were children.
Jackson's estate has denied the claims and filed a lawsuit against HBO, seeking $100 million in damages.
Another sexual abuse documentary, Surviving R. Kelly, received one Emmy nomination - for outstanding informational series or special.
