Radio listener competition increases in November and especially December with so many radio stations going to "all Christmas" formats. This has been the case for at least 8 years or so. Each year it seems that more and more stations both terrestrial and internet play only Christmas music during the holiday season.
There's always a dip in listeners during the holidays. Many listeners prefer all holiday music but there are many who may prefer a mixture. I always mix holiday music in with the oldies during this time. My goal is for Edgewater Gold Radio to sound festive and offer a large variety of holiday music but still maintain the oldies flow.
I also make sure that the traditional Christmas music gets played plus the novelty songs like "Dominik the Donkey",Donde Esta Santa Claus, "I'm Gettin Nuttin for Christmas" etc. featuring the original artists.
If you're running an AC, or oldies station, Christmas music can co-exist during this time.
