Happy New Year From Edgewater Gold Radio

As we start the new year, we look back and review some of the things that we've accomplished in the past. As a broadcaster, I can remember several New Year's Eve's when I worked on the air.

One in particular was the time I came down with the flu right before I had to report to work on New Years Eve. Since I was sort of new at the station, I decided to struggle and get to the station to do my shift. 11pm - 6am. A very long time on the air especially if one was sick. I got in my car and drive the 55 miles to the station. I had the chills and felt absolutely miserable. As I struggled through my shift, a listener called and told me how much they were enjoying my show since they were spending New Years Eve at home. As I was talking to the listener, I realized that the 33 RPM record on the air was playing at 45rpm. I was so sick that I didn't even realize it! I think since it was New Years, no one noticed! I did make it through my shift and even though I couldn't wait to get home and lie down, I had a sense of satisfaction for making it through even if it wasn't one of my best performances. Radio does that to you, it give you a sense of satisfaction!

I'm also thankful that I continue to preserve the greatest oldies from the 50s through the 80's on Edgewater Gold Radio. We are going into our 18th year of streaming to the world. This gives me great satisfaction! Your memories will continue throughout 2020 and beyond as I'm committed to hold on to the great memories that this great music provides for the baby boomer generation!
