Jim Seals of Seals & Crofts died on Monday, June 6, at age 80. The cause of death wasn't immediately revealed.
"This is a hard one on so many levels as this is a musical era passing for me," wrote John Ford Coley, who had formed the '70s duo England Dan & John Ford Coley with Jim's brother Dan. "And it will never pass this way again as his song said. He belonged to a group that was one of a kind."
Seals had teamed up with fellow musician Dash Crofts to create soft-rock hits such as "Summer Breeze," "Diamond Girl" and "We May Never Pass This Way Again," which all were top 10 hits in Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Their other popular songs included "Hummingbird," "You're the Love" and "We May Never Pass This Way Again."
Though the duo disbanded in 1980, they reunited briefly in 1991-1992, and again in 2004, when they released their final album, Traces. Jim stopped playing music in 2017 after reportedly suffering a stroke.
