Beatles legend Paul McCartney has revealed the title and official release date of his new solo album.

Titled McCartney III, the new collection will be a follow-up to McCartney II, released in 1980. The album was recorded in Sussex, England, over the past several months, as McCartney, like others, has been forced to quarantine himself due to the ongoing COvID-19 pandemic.

"I was living lockdown life on my farm with my family and I would go to my studio every day," the 78-year-old singer shared in a statement. "I had to do a little bit of work on some film music and that turned into the opening track. And then when it was done, I thought, 'What will I do next?'"

He added, "I had some stuff I'd worked on over the years, but sometimes time would run out and it would be left half-finished. So I started thinking about what I had."

The photographs for McCartney (1970) and McCartney II were captured by his late wife, Linda, and those for the upcoming album were taken by the singer's daughter, Mary, and his nephew, Sonny.

The album is due out on December 11 via Capitol Records.
