Holiday Music on the Radio

The holiday's are upon us and lots of radio stations are well into their 24 hour holiday programming. The trend over the past 10 years or so is for certain stations to convert to all Christmas music during the holidays. They say "It's good for advertisers." but it seems they've been switching over earlier and earlier each year. It's not uncommon to start to hear Christmas music on the radio in late October. Years ago, holiday tunes started to crop up on radio stations after Thanksgiving. You would hear maybe one per hour with the amount of Christmas songs increasing as the holiday approached. I enjoyed that method because it got me in the holiday spirit while I still heard my regular favor

Take A Break From Impeachment Hearings

I've been following the impeachment hearings over the past several days and realized that I'm getting a bit stressed out. I support impeachment but I'm outraged because of all of the twisting and distortion of the truth that comes from the other side. So I say to you whichever side your on, take a break because this serious situation can put an unnecessary stress on all of us. A great way to get away is to listen to some music that makes you happy! Edgewater Gold Radio purposely does not air news as not to distract our audience from enjoying great oldies all the time. Dedicated to Oldies

The radio landscape is continually changing and I must say, not for the better for the baby boomer generation. The songs we grew up with are fading fast and some songs are never heard at all anymore. These great songs and artists shaped our generation and are lives. The Billboard top 125 artists of all time came out recently and it's not surprising that The Beatles ranked top of the list. Much of the music today is produced on computers. You don't even need a band to back you up anymore. You can created the band on the computer. Even voices can be altered on the computer. Sounds sort of like cheating doesn't it? In my opinion, there's nothing like real voices, real instruments and real music

Billboards Top 125 Artists of All Time

RTT music news issued Billboards top 125 artists of all time. On the occasion of Billboard's 125th anniversary, the entertainment magazine ranked the top 125 Artists of All Time. The Beatles topped the 125 Artists of All Time chart on the basis of the iconic band's unrivaled dominance on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 since their U.S. breakthrough in 1964. The Beatles have tallied the most No. 1 hits in the 61-year history of the Hot 100, with 20. The Rolling Stones claim the No. 2 spot on the list, followed by Elton John, Mariah Carey and Madonna. Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder and Chicago round out the top 10. The list of music's all-time top artists was comp

Contrary to Popular Belief

I grew up listening to WABC in New York. They played contemporary hits with a sprinkling of gold. The playlist was small but as a kid, we loved hearing the music over and over along with the variety of ultra talented air personalities. Younger listeners don't mind hearing their favorite songs repeated throughout the day. Their "tune in" time is shorter and so is their attention span. Now here's where we part ways.I've heard so many radio station slice and dice their playlist to bits. Taking out songs that "don't test well" or that doesn't fit their sound. Example, WCBS -FM used to play oldies from the early sixties and late fifties. They used to play groups like the Shirelles and Four Season
